Bombshell review..by Amanda
In November 2019 my best friend and life companion, Graeme proposed.....
Through all of the planning in my mind was the dress - it had to be beautiful, stylish and withstand a long day of celebration. I had secretly coveted the idea of a Grace Kelly/Audrey Hepburn 50’s glamour look and then Gill appeared in our virtual appointment in the glorious silk Grace dress. We talked about the feel of the fabric, the weight and fall of the skirt and the comfort of the fit.
"When it arrived, as promised it was the most beautiful shimmering iridescent dragonfly blue"
I touched the fabric, looked at the quality of the workmanship in the cut and stitching, down to the lovely mother of pearl buttons, I was in tears. This dress had now become such a symbol of our determination to marry despite all the challenges that followed the lockdown.
We had the happiest day, with our son and daughter as our witnesses . The sun shone and the iridescence of the silk was amazing, to achieve such effortless elegance is a rare thing. I just want to dress like this every day! We walked through our beautiful city of Newcastle, passed so many places that have memories for Graeme and I and had a little pop up reception at the beautiful Wylam Brewery in Exhibition Park. Strangers smiled and waved, wished us well and even tooted their horns! So we made it despite all the challenges and finally, after 20 years together we’re married on 20th August 2020
I wore this dress on my wedding day and felt absolutely fabulous in it.
I often get requests for advice on wedding dress styles for my Bombshell's who are, perhaps getting married for the second or third time, or simply just because they wanted to take their time!
When making the decision to marry later, and therefore being a more "mature bride", usually by this stage in life, we have often discovered our own personal style and know what shapes and fabrics suit us. I find most brides want effortless, classic shapes which flatter and skim their body. Beautiful bell sleeves, or classic 3/4 sleeves are often a favourite and clever draping with a sarong skirt. I personally love a wide neckline, and a midi skirt, but insist on wearing a normal bra.
Foundation garments are key.... .
.. as it is can help create a waist if you're an apple shape and smoothing shapewear can skim down hips and create a smoother line , but shapewear should feel structured but comfortable.
When I was dressing red carpet celebrities, it was always started with the shapewear!
Evening Gowns are excellent if you don’t like your legs, plus they are super elegant. Floaty dresses are light, easy to wear and suit most body shapes. For summer weddings chiffon is lovely as it’s elegant and timeless. Our iconic Bombshell Grace dress suits all body shapes and really is a showstopper, Inspired by Grace Kelly and Dior dresses of the 50's. This shirt dress is both flattering and elegant. The set-in sleeve line brings in a contemporary silhouette. 3/4 turn back sleeves and a stand-up collar add to the drama, glamour and flare. You really can't go wrong with this dress!

" I hunted everywhere for a knee length, flattering white dress for my wedding in Edinburgh. I’m over 60 and it’s not easy to find dresses for mature brides so I was over the moon to find this Bombshell dress on your website! Even better, it fitted like a dream and I felt very confident in it and my new husband loved it! "
