Creating winning combinations with her use of both high street and designer accessories. As a Royal Lady's maid Alicia really does know who's who and what's what. At the bottom of this page you can see her book which de codes the dress codes for event wear and offers insider tips on how to care for your clothes. With no further delay I invite you to marvel at the beautiful ensembles she has put together for Bombshell HQ. Love Katya x
The Royal Garden Party
So what exactly do you to wear to an afternoon in the Queens back garden? It's always so exciting to pick up the phone and the caller is attending a Royal Garden Party. How exciting to be one of the lucky 30,000 guests that is invited to the most esteemed of tea parties. With around 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 slices of cake consumed at each garden party - It's the mother of all tea parties.
Defiantly arm coverage is important here and with any Royal event keep the lengths past the knee. We love the ballerina length Bombshell Grace dress. Which is also a good fit with our unpredictable British weather as it has a closed in shirt neckline and 3/4 sleeve.
Hats and fascinators are welcomed here and I think a pair of Cordelia James gloves is a gorgeous touch.
Top tip - A spare pare of flats will be handy!
Tea at the Ritz? Lunch at Claridges? It's time to dress up and enjoy yourself. Both dresses featured (as with all Bombshell dresses) are ultra comfortable choices. The Stretch Luxe Bombshell dress has vertical draping to the skirt which conceals and flatters the tummy. The Grace dress is also a very versatile dress and you can dress it up or down. The heron blue is a Bombshell favourite and very flattering and elegant.
Wedding Guest Dress
We love weddings and wedding guest dresses at Bombshell HQ. What I love most about Bombshell dresses is that they are so versatile meaning a dress you buy for a wedding can become an instant useful wardrobe favourite. You can change the look so easily with different accessories. Meaning that re styling your look is simple. The powder blue Grace dress shown here looks amazing with the Carol Kennelly hat and also works really well as a day dress with a simple pair of pumps. Equally the stunning pink Kensington roses dress pictured looks picture perfect with the fabulous LK Bennett bag and sky high Chritistian Louboutin shoes but looks equally fabulous teamed with low wedges on a summers day.
We have expanded our wedding guest range extensively in the past year and have loved seeing your pictures on the Be a Bombshell Star page.
Mother of the Bride
Mother of the Bride. Those words alone are enough to strike terror. Not so at Bombshell HQ. We fully understand that mother of the bride is not a fancy dress costume! It's a reflection of YOU and your personal style as well as conforming to a colour palette. It's a big day for your daughter and you want to look your best. Not to mention the added pressure of lots of eyes also on you. We'll you're in safe hands at Bombshell HQ. Be it a formal wedding, an evening wedding, a wedding in a barn, a beach or even a boat - there's a dress here that's perfect for you.
We have selected @theladysmaid's gold and cream ensembles as they have been a very popular choice. Creams and golds work well illuminating the face and offering an elegant choice to the occasion. You can of course choose from a plethora of other colours.
Mother of the Groom
Often a hard gig. Why? Well I have noticed that the Mother of the Groom is often the last person to choose 'their' colour. The protocol usually runs like this:- The bride chooses a colour for the bridesmaids and the groomsmens cumberbads or ties etc. Then the Mother of the Bride has a colour so it's pretty narrowed down by the time it gets to the mother of the Groom. Combine this with having to wait for the mother of the bride to find her dress this can mean that the mother of the groom has little time or choice.
I have selected the @theladysmaid's resplendant plumb invitation dress look. A sarong skirt and wrap bodice with satin reveal collar and cuffs. Pretty ideal teamed with a hairband from British milliner Jane Taylor. I imagine you may have spotted the STUNNING emerald green Dupion silk dress. It is without any doubt a dream dress. Incredibly flattering and beyond striking. You'll cut a fine figure in this dress. Neutral gold accessories both complement and enhance the effect. The Dolce and Gabbana shoes are pretty heavenly too.
Graduation (Mrs Robinson)
The Graduate. Whether you are the graduate or you are enjoying this prestigious event of your offspring. It's a real landmark event and it is defiantly worthy of a very special dress. Again with Bombshell you could wear the dresses pictured at many different occasions. The message that seems to come through is that people attending graduations want to look smart and appropriate and it's a must that it's a dress that they can use tine and time again across other events. Our best selling dress of the season has been the navy blue Grace dress available in sizes 8-24 and shown here with red pumps and some fabulous earrings from accessorise.
The Latte cap sleeve Bombshell is another great choice for a graduation outfit. Timeless and elegant and very versatile. It comes in both a cap sleeve and a 3/4 sleeve option.
Dresses for the races
I love excitement around the races. It's not just Ascot that people go all out for. Cheltenham really seems to be up there on the dressing up stakes more and more lately.
With the racing calendar being so vast there's no shortage of opportunities to get dressed up and have some real fun with your hat and accessories.
Ascots Royal Enclosure is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite! I love to see the Royals in particular and there have been some beautiful looks in recent years. We've gone for a variation here in the selection. I love the red Grace dress and the Rachel Trevor Morgan Hat is incredible! I also really like the Stretch Luxe Bombshell in the dark green. Really classic.
The go to event in July - Henley. Think sunny days by the river watching the boat race. Trousers are a no, no (for women)! Men are allowed to wear them lol. Hems must be past the knee. As Bombshell dresses all come past the knee we have you covered - quite literally. Hats are not essential . Many people do have a sun hat and this wide brimmed Justine Bradley hat supplied by the Cotswold Hat club is perfect. Both of these dresses shown work really well with flats, kitten heels or wedges.
Full of FUN - that's Goodwood. If you are yet to experience the incredible events that are Goodwood Revival or Goodwood Festival of Speed then do! These annual car racing events are as much about the incredible vintage cars as they are about what you wear. Pretty much everyone dresses up in a vintage style. You'll see ensembles that span the decades. It really is amazing to be part of. Although we don't call ourselves a vintage brand we defiantly thing our classic and timeless styles fit right in here!
Chelsea Flower Show
The Chelsea flower show is a real calendar favourite and it's a great opportunity to wear a fabulous dress. The aqua peony floral print Bombshell Grace dress would look wonderful against a back drop of flora!
The Bombshell Kaftan. It's quite simply the most comfortable and stylish holiday item you will ever own. Shown here in Liberty silk crepe de chine and also coming in other fabrics and also block colours. It has a secret tie just under the bust and nips you in and creates a slimming column shape. You'll literally live in this beautiful holiday essential!
Trip to Cannes
Early summer in Cannes - that's what these looks say to me. Long lunches and blue skies. Time to shake off the winter and enjoy your self in bright poppy colours teamed with elegant neutral accessories.
