Bombshells International Women’s Day Icon- The Queen!
International Women's Day is upon us again.
Celebrated on March 8th, it is a global day renowned for highlighting social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the globe. It is a day of empowerment, and here at Bombshell, one of our favourite celebrated women is Her Majesty, The Queen.
From her fabulous matching outfits to her long term charity work, since her official coronation in 1953, The Queen has played an extensive role in supporting and serving the nation, in a reliable, loyal and trustworthy fashion.
The Queen is patron to 510 charities in Britain, including Cancer Research UK, the British Red Cross and Barnado's. Raising over 1.4 billion throughout her monarch, she also heads the Queens Commonwealth Trust.
The trust puts on yearly events in support of International Women’s Day and Elizabeth II favours charities that tackle community and civic issues.
The Queen's work ethic for charities is an example to us all, that to give and help is a wonderful act of kindness that we can all adhere to.
Not only is Her Majesty committed to her Royal Patronages but she values loving family time and has an exquisite unique style, which here at Bombshell we coin, ‘Simply wonderful!’
She has essentially been on display almost daily since her 1952 coronation and her dressers and designers have ensured that she looks just right, allowing for lovely splashes of colour throughout her Royal wardrobe.
She loves her Anello & Davide heels (her go-to shoe designer for the last 50 years) and is partial to a classic Launder handbag, which always compliment her block colour outfits. She has even worn the same nail polish for the last thirty years!
Most of us just get to wear hats at weddings or maybe the races, yet The Queen however is a dedicated hat and glove wearer, on a daily basis.
We think she would look wonderful in Bombshells very regal pale blue dress coat with a string of matching pearls to finish the look!
The mother-of-four also has a passion for accessories too – fabulous brooches, pearl necklaces, and of course, diamonds galore for her evenings out. We would love to take a peek inside her dressing room!
But for all her clothes and events, the nation is the Queens most favourite subject. Unfaltering, she has led us through many a difficult time whilst continuing to serve and work for her people. A matriarch to us all, she is a representative and voice to women everywhere.
Talking about her personal links with The Commonwealth Trust on International Women’s Day she says;
Sometimes the worlds problems are so big we think we can do little to help. On our own we cannot end wars, or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine.
We agree wholeheartedly, that a little bit of kindness goes a long way- and makes for a very good life.
Happy International Women’s Day Bombshells! xxx
